Eligibility
U.S. hosts, 18+, verified before you're paid.
To host events on Occasio you must be a U.S. resident or a U.S.-registered business entity, at least 18 years of age, and able to enter into a binding contract. You must complete identity and bank verification (KYC/KYB) through our payment processor before receiving any payout.
Your Events
Your event, your responsibility. We review listings; you handle the law.
You are solely responsible for the accuracy of your event listings, the legality of the events you host, and compliance with all applicable laws, including venue permitting, alcohol licensing, ADA accessibility, age restrictions, and local public-safety ordinances. Every listing is reviewed against our platform guidelines before it goes live, but Occasio does not validate legal compliance on your behalf.
Pricing & Fees
10% on tickets, 5% + $0.50 on add-ons. Card processing is on us.
You set the base price of your tickets and add-ons. Occasio's fees are:
- 10% platform fee on ticket sales. At event creation you choose whether this fee is added to the buyer's total at checkout (attendee-paid) or absorbed by you (host-paid). Either way it is the host's only ticket-side deduction, and it is charged once.
- 5% + $0.50 per order on add-ons (merch, food, parking, and similar). The add-on fee is always borne by you, regardless of the ticket fee setting.
Card-processing fees are on us, on every sale. Occasio absorbs the Stripe payment-processing fee out of its own platform-fee revenue. You are never charged it on a successful sale. (Processing fees on refunds and chargebacks are treated differently; see Refunds & Cancellations and Chargebacks & Disputes.) Your settlement statement itemizes every line.
Payouts
Paid out three business days after your event ends, straight to your bank.
Payouts are made via Stripe Connect to the bank account you connect during onboarding. Standard timing is three business days after your event ends (T+3), subject to Stripe's availability rules. Your net payout is:
gross sales − 10% ticket fee − (5% + $0.50) add-on fee − sales tax (collected and remitted by Occasio; see Sales Tax).
We hold payouts while a dispute is open, while you carry an unpaid balance owed to Occasio, or if your Connect account is incomplete or disabled. Held funds are released once the underlying issue is resolved.
Refunds & Cancellations
Pick a policy at setup. On refunds, you cover the fee Stripe keeps.
You select a refund policy at event creation: None, 24-hour, 48-hour, 7-day, or Flexible. Attendees can request refunds within the window your policy allows; refunds outside that window are at your discretion.
When a ticket is refunded, the attendee receives the ticket price, any add-on charges, and all sales tax back. Platform and service fees are not refundable. Because Stripe does not return its processing fee on a refund, that processing fee is borne by the host on refunded orders and is recovered from your balance or next payout.
If you cancel an event, every attendee is refunded in full automatically (ticket price, add-ons, and sales tax) with no action required from them. Fees you absorbed on the original sales remain owed.
Chargebacks & Disputes
A dispute pulls the amount plus a $15 fee until it's resolved.
If an attendee disputes a charge with their bank, Stripe withdraws the disputed amount plus a $15 chargeback fee per disputed charge while the dispute is reviewed. You authorize Occasio to recover these amounts from your balance or future payouts. We will notify you and give you the chance to submit evidence.
If the dispute is resolved in your favor, the withheld amount is returned to you. If it is lost, you bear the disputed amount, the card-processing fee on that order, and the $15 chargeback fee. Repeated chargebacks may result in suspension of payout privileges.
Sales Tax: Marketplace Facilitator
We collect and remit your sales tax. You set the base price.
Occasio acts as a “marketplace facilitator” under applicable U.S. state laws. For every ticket and add-on sold through the platform, Occasio calculates, collects, and remits the applicable state and local sales tax directly to the relevant tax authority. You are not required to register for, collect, or remit sales tax for transactions conducted through Occasio in jurisdictions where our facilitator obligation applies.
What this means for you:
- You set the base price. Sales tax is added on top at checkout, paid by the attendee, and never touches your payout.
- Your settlement statements and the Form 1099-K issued annually by our payment processor reflect the gross amount including tax. Tax was already remitted to the state on your behalf, so you do not owe additional sales tax on that portion.
- You remain responsible for your own income taxes on the net you receive, plus any taxes outside the scope of marketplace-facilitator laws (business licenses, occupancy or amusement taxes specific to your venue, and transactions you process outside Occasio).
Tax is computed by the event's venue location for in-person events, or the attendee's billing address for online events, via Stripe Tax. When a ticket is refunded, the corresponding tax is reversed and returned to the attendee automatically. If a tax authority contacts you directly about a transaction conducted through Occasio, forward it to hosts@occasio.events and we will respond on your behalf within our facilitator scope.
Content & Intellectual Property
You own your content; you let us promote your event with it.
You retain ownership of your event content (descriptions, artwork, lineup information). By posting content on Occasio you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and promote it on the platform and in our marketing for the purpose of advertising your event.
Prohibited Conduct
No fraud, no misrepresenting your event, no routing around tax.
You agree not to:
- List events that are illegal, fraudulent, or that violate third-party rights
- Misrepresent ticket inventory, capacity, lineup, or refund policy
- Sell tickets at a price higher than what attendees see at checkout
- Use the platform to launder funds or facilitate illegal transactions
- Route transactions outside Occasio to bypass tax collection for events listed on the platform
Suspension & Termination
Break the rules and we can pause your account and your funds.
We may suspend or terminate your host account (including pausing payouts and withholding settlement funds) if we reasonably believe you have violated this Agreement, the Terms of Service, or applicable law. Held funds are released following resolution of the underlying issue.
Indemnification
You cover claims that arise from your events.
You agree to indemnify and hold Occasio harmless from any claims, losses, or damages arising out of your events, your conduct on the platform, or your breach of this Agreement, except where caused by Occasio's own gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Changes to This Agreement
30 days' notice before anything material changes.
We may update this Agreement from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email and posted to your host dashboard at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
